With Seagate Wireless, you can now offload or back up full-resolution pictures and video from your smartphone or tablet using the Seagate Media app. Windows 8 users can access all the content on Seagate Wireless directly from their desktops using the Seagate Media App for a truly wireless.

  3. The Seagate Media app gives you access to all the photos, videos, music, and documents stored on your compatible Seagate storage devices. Quickly and easily browse your media library with classic.

Treat the 2 uses differently.

A) you do not need to use any drivers for the disk. You can format the disk for Mac use with the Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility.

B) to backup your Mac for the upgrade, format the drive as a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) disk drive. This will NOT be readable by Windows, but you can reformat for that task after you upgrade.

Use a Mac backup utility to copy your Mac's data to the external disk. Disk Utility -> Restore can be used to copy your entire system to the external disk, just specify the external disk as the destination for the Restore.

Or you can use SuperDuper (free for a full clone, you only pay if you want the incremental and scheduling features). I think there are older versions available for 10.5

Or Carbon Copy Cloner (free 1 month fully enabled demo). I think there are older versions available for 10.5

C) After you have performed your upgrade and your data is safe, you can choose to blow away the contents of the external disk and reformat it as a Windows exFAT drive that can be read by both Mac and Windows. NOTE: Some Mac file attributes may not transfer, but that would only matter if you were trying to use the exFAT formatted drive as a Mac backup device. But as a file transfer device or a device for storing documents, pictures, movies (data, not programs), then exFAT is OK for that.

This offers a way to present documents using a drag-and-drop page designer. They can only blindly drop files into it, which is a necessity in many cases. Finally, Dropbox offers Showcase in Dropbox Professional accounts. Drop box app wont open on mac. You add text blocks, images, links, documents, sections, and titles.

If you want to transfer data to Windows first, then just create the exFAT first, transfer your data, then reformat for Mac backup and upgrade.

NOTE: you should be able to use file sharing between the Mac and the Windows system for transferring files.

Apple coded the ability to stream iTunes purchased TV/Movie out of iOS sometime at some version iOS 8.

I discovered this feature omission in iOS 9 when I started inquiring about this.

This was an undocumented and workaround feature, from iOS 5 to the last last iOS 7 update, to be able to stream iTunes purchased movie/TV content remotely from an external storage device, but Apple closed down, coded out this ability/workaround since, and it seems that Apple is not going to restore this ability anytime soon!

There is no way to do this any longer!

There is NOTHING you can do to get this to work!

This ability is gone!

The only thing you can do is transfer movies from the drive to your iPad to watch the movies off of your iPad, now!

The wireless drive is just a storage vessel, now and not an external streaming device.

I have resorted to stop purchasing any more iTunes movie/TV content and going back to purchasing physical mulitiformat discs of movies/tv show and creating my own digital copies of DVDs that I can use with both my Seagate Wireless portable drives and wireless and lightning connected mobile, portable USB flash memory drives.

I can now directly stream all of my movie/TV content, once again, from external storage devices.

I still own the first generation iPad that still has iOS 5.1.1 that still has this capability. So, I can still stream movies from my Seagate Wireless hard drive to my 2010 iPad 1, but this is my only iPad that still can do this.

If you want Apple to restore this external streaming workaround feature/ability, send feedback here.
