  • I am about to instal windows 10 using boot camp. The BC assistant guide recommends having 'at least 55 GB of free space on an internal hard drive.' Should I increase that to 65 or 75 GB? What happens if I need to install other 'windows software'? Would the new software be installed on the windows partition or use the space on my mac hard drive?
  • Download Folder Size for Windows to analyze your hard drives and display the file and folder sizes, remove junk files. Folder Size has had 1 update within the past 6 months.
  • Dragging to the top edge maximizes window size on a given screen. Bottom edge creates thirds. Slide on it to expand into two thirds. Download on the Mac App Store.
  • You need to change the initial View Controller's View (NSView) size to whatever you want in the Size Inspector. You do not need to touch the Window Controller nor the Window. Important: Don't forget to delete Xcode's derived data; otherwise it will remember the previous value that was used the first time the app.

WindowDidResize should be called when window resized. In a non document based App, I had issues with window resize and reposition: I wanted the window to be displayed with size and position saved after last close. Finally, I had to use a patch to solve this. I created a class property. Var firstAppearance = true.

This page gives details about Sizer 3.34, which was designed to run on 32 bit systems only and was last updated in 2012. Attempts to port this version a modern 64 bit OS proved difficult so ground-up rewrite is in progress. Previews of the new version (Sizer 4.0) are now available. If you experience incompatiblities or problems with Sizer 3.34 then you should try Sizer 4.0 instead.

Sizer is a freeware utility that allows you to resize any window to an exact, predefined size. This is extremely useful when designing web pages, as it allows you to see how the page will look when viewed at a smaller size. The utility is also handy when compiling screen-shots for documentation, using Sizer allows you to easily maintain the same window size across screen grabs.

Sizer is available for download in two formats:

  • MSI Installer (recommended). Simply download sizer334.msi (153KB), double click the file and follow the on screen instructions. The setup program will install the program and configure all shortcuts.
  • Zip package. For those happy to configure shortcuts themselves just download sizer334.zip (16KB).

Enter Split View

Split View requires OS X El Capitan or later, and the steps differ slightly based on which macOS you're using. If these steps don't work, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Mission Control, and make sure that “Displays have separate Spaces” is selected.

macOS Catalina

  1. Hover your pointer over the full-screen button in the upper-left corner of a window. Or click and hold the button.
  2. Choose ”Tile Window to Left of Screen” or ”Tile Window to Right of Screen” from the menu. The window then fills that side of the screen.
  3. Click a window on the other side of the screen to begin using both windows side by side.
